There is no quick fix for toenail issues – consistency is key

Nail ER+ bottle beside healthy-looking toenails and a clock graphic, illustrating that visible nail improvement requires time and consistent use

Frustrated with being promised that a toenail fix will work overnight, or perhaps, in a few days to completely sort the issue out? There are lots of products that make unproven claims about rapid results and even ‘cure’.

One of the reasons toenail issues take so long to resolve (if ever) is because these tiny, protective barriers at the end of our toes grow so slowly. The rate of toenail growth also varies from person to person (genetics) and factors such as age and certain health conditions slow toenail growth down. A toenail generally 12-18 months to go through a complete re- growth cycle whereas this can be closer to 6 months for a fingernail.

The second reason that is that because they are barriers, toenails are actually designed to keep most things out. Oils, alcohols and other solvents are ‘rejected’ by the nail (apart from them just sitting around on the nail surface) because they aren’t compatible with its ‘interior’ chemistry. The nail is very simple in its make-up. Mainly keratin (a hard protein) and water. Nails don’t like anything that doesn’t mix with water. Products or ingredients that don’t, will not penetrate into the nail. They will only have a superficial effect on the toenail surface, meaning any significant improvement will take longer – if it happens at all.

If you use the right product on your toenails, the good news is that you CAN see rapid results. Still bear in mind though that real transformation takes more time, and this will only ever happen as the old, damaged nail grows out and new, healthier looking and feeling nail comes in. So, what quick results might you see from a credible product? A recovery system that rehydrates damaged toenails can rapidly improve appearance. The inclusion of ingredients that break down and remove the damaged, discoloured nail material (keratin) from the surface also help improve appearance and texture in the short term.

Consistency and continuing to use a credible nail product – focusing just as much if not more on what happens to the new nail as it comes through to what is happening to the ‘old’ damaged nail– is critical for real toenail transformation and getting back to healthier looking, feeling, more comfortable toenails. This part of real recovery Versus rapid repair is more of a marathon (well, maybe a 10k) than a sprint. Nail ER’s hydration and conditioning power, plus gentle exfoliating action gives you both the rapid results in the short term, as well as its TXYL polymer technology restoring strength and structure and delivering real toenail transformation over time.

No product should promise miracles or make claims it can’t support. Trust science-backed and clinically tested products.
